The Meaning of Environment and The Components of The Environment

In this article we will be talking about the meaning of environment and the components of the environment; the environment is very vital and it is the possibility of the existence of mankind and every other form of life on earth and not simply what sustains life and so we need to say no to environmental pollution.

Our focus will be on the biophysical meaning of environment and the components of the environment as these are vital and frequently asked questions, this topic shall be broken down into the most comprehensive way possible.

Talking about the meaning of environment and the components of the environment we shall only discuss about the local environment; which is the environment on the earth and its natural satelite.

What is The Meaning of Environment and The Components of The Environment

What is the Meaning of Environment

The environment biophysically is defined as the biological and non-biological components constituting the surroundings of an object, organism, group of subjects, or organisms; that affect the overall condition of the object or affects the life pattern, activities, and the overall wellbeing( state) of the organism throughout their existence.
The environment in general terms is defined as the physical surroundings and conditions which an organism interacts with and feels its effects, physically it is simply defined as the surroundings of a given object of study, and it is biologically defined as biotic and abiotic surroundings of an organism.

What are The Components of The Environment

Everything that man interacts with are components of his environment; likewise other beings and objects in the universe, so talking about the environment is talking about everything in existence, both biotic and abiotic including empty space and air.

There are two major classifications of the components of the environment, and they are the biological and the physical environment, below is the definiton and explanation of them all:

 Biological Components of The Environment

The Biological components of the environment also known as the biotic components of the environment simply means all living things in the environment.

Animals, plants and microorganisms all interact with the abiotic or non-living components of the environment to form various types ecosystem; going further, organisms in these ecosystems are classified into the two major groups below:

Animals

Animal is simply defined as any living organism that feeds on organic matter, has specialized sense organs and nervous system and able to respond rapidly to stimuli.

Plants

A plant is any living organism living organism that absorbs water, inorganic and organic substances through its roots, and does not respond quickly to stimuli; most of which synthesize nutrients in their leaves through a process called photosynthesis.

Physical Components of The Environment

The physical components of the environment also called the abiotic of the environment are the non-living components of the environment.

These non-living components interact with the living components of the environment and together they form different types of ecosystem, the physical components can be classified into three major types and they are:

Atmosphere

The atmosphere is that part of the environment that constitutes only of gases and it can be further divide into four layers; the thermosphere, mesosphere, stratosphere, and troposphere. They size of these layers is affected by the temperature of the area of study.

Lithosphere

The lithosphere is that part if the environent that constitutes of soil, rocks and other solid minerals, the lithosphere includes the crust and the uppermost mantle; which consttitutes the soilid parts of the earth from the crust to the tallest mountains.

Hydrosphere

Hydro is a popular prefice for terms relating to water; hydrosphere is simply defined as all the water bodies on the planet earth and its natural satelite; all these water bodies need to be safeguarded from water pollution and one of the ways to achieve this is the use of ecological detergents.
