1. TORTOISE

First on my list of animals that start with T is the tortoise, I think because it’s one of the most popular. Tortoises can be found in southern North America, southern South America, the Mediterranean basin, Eurasia to Southeast Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar, and some Pacific islands. Their habitats are from deserts to wet tropical forests. They prefer to live in a vegetative area.

They eat plants, leaves, and vegetables.

Many species of tortoise are endangered primarily due to predators, illegal pet trades, and loss of habitat. The popularly reported illegal international trade in tortoises is most common in East Asia and the African supply markets for use in food and traditional medicine and as pets.

For this, regulatory agencies should take action.

Tortoises are primarily wild animals but can be domesticated as pets howbeit they are docile.

Most tortoises are docile and shy. However, when two male tortoises are put together, they could become aggressive toward each other to the point of serious physical harm. They are voracious. I don’t think I can write about the animals that start with T without including these marvelous creatures.

2. Taco Terrier

The second First on my list of animals that start with T is the Taco Terrier. The Taco Terrier is a mixed-breed dog. It is a cross between the Chihuahua and the Toy Fox Terrier.

The name Taco Terrier came from its parent breeds, the Chihuahua and the Toy Fox Terrier. The ‘Taco’ is a reference to the little Chihuahua in the Taco Bell commercials.

A Taco Terrier is good for a companion dog and a guard dog.

The average physical specifications of a Taco Terrier are:

  • Height: 8-11 inches
  • Weight: 5-8 ounces
  • Height: 6-9 inches
  • Weight: 3-6 ounces

To know the temperament of a breed dog, the best way is to check all breeds involved in the cross and you’ll know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Any at all.

3. Tailless Whip Scorpion

The perfect reference or short description for word for this animal is ‘harmlessly terrifying’. They look so terrifying but are harmless to humans. There are more than 155 species of these harmless beasts.

Tailless whip-scorpions are arthropods that live in tropical and subtropical areas such as caves, crevices, and under large boulders at most elevations and they are found in a large variety of locations except Europe and Australia, and Africa.

They have eight legs and two pincers jut out from both sides of the body and bend in a loose L-shape. Eight eyes are at the top and sides of their heads. They have pincers, bristles, and mandibles that make them look hostile. Bats, lizards, reptiles, and other insect-eaters can easily prey on tailless whip scorpions.

Tailless whip-scorpions make great pets because they aren’t hostile or defensive. They aren’t averse to each other. They can even crawl all over your face without fear of a single bite.

Tailless whip scorpions do not bite. Even chewing is absent. They pierce their prey with their pincers, crush and liquefy them with their mandibles, and then consume the ensuing mush. This is undoubtedly one of the most amazing and shocking creatures among the animals that start with T, and hard to be forgotten.

4. Taimen Fish

The Taimen Fish is also known as the Siberian or Mongolian Taimen. This species is the largest member of the salmonid family.

The species is threatened. This is primarily due to overfishing and habitat destruction. For instance, in Mongolia, logging, mining, and grazing have harmed water quality in the taimen’s range, threatening them.

Another reason for the population threat is that they are slow-growers – taking up to seven years to reach sexual maturity, which means that if anything happens, the populations can’t quickly bounce back.

It is so many scientists say that the removal of even a single large fish can hurt the taimen populations. The Taimen Fish’s life span is from 30 years and some people say up to 100 years.

5. Toy Fox Terrier

Toy Fox Terriers are an All-American breed. It has a history of just over a hundred years.

They are a descendant of a Smooth Fox Terrier named Foiler, the first Fox Terrier to be recognized by the English Kennel Club around 1885.

TFTs accommodate other pets and do not show aggression with unfamiliar dogs. They’re devoted, brave, and excellent watchdogs. But this doesn’t mean that TFTs are vicious dogs.

Loyal, protective, and intelligent, loves his people and wants to be involved in everything they do. He’s a superb watchdog and will alert you to the approach of guests and strangers, as well as to all the goings-on in the neighborhood.

They are also brilliant and superbly agile which makes them widely used as circus dogs. They are obedient and easily housetrained.

In fact, they are the expression of our idea of ‘a dog’.

6. Tuna

10 animals that start with T

Tuna species can be found throughout the world’s oceans.

The IUCN has listed 63 tuna species, and 15 are decreasing in population. The Southern bluefin tuna are at the most risk and are considered critically endangered.

Some examples of tuna include yellowfin tuna, Atlantic bluefin tuna, and yellowfin tuna.

Tunas are originally found in the wild but can they be tamed?

Tunas are wild and can be domesticated to a limited extent. The most specie known to be domesticated is the bluefin tuna.

So far, there have been slow progress and many setbacks. Adult Bluefin tuna can reach a size comparable to a cow, dive a mile below the surface to find food, and traverse countless distances annually. Their combination of size and speed causes fatal damage when they are put in a confined location. They have the ability to smash into a wall, breaking their own spines, if startled.

Bluefin doesn’t conform to aquaculture. Those born in captivity die by the millions in their larval stage, face-first into concrete, dead on impact. As a juvenile, they can be a size of a football and in adulthood, they can be the size of a cow.

The International Union of the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) once listed Atlantic Bluefin as endangered but according to new data, the Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus), is now on the list of least concern.

The reason for the status is that tunas are the most valuable and savory to consume fishery worldwide.

They can be kept as pets.

Tree frogs do not all reside in trees. The trait that distinguishes them instead has to do with their feet since the final bone in each of their toes, known as the terminal phalanx, resembles a claw. In order to assist them to climb, tree frogs also have toe pads.

Although tree frogs can grow to a range of sizes (not so large) because they rely on leaves and slender branches to hold their weight.
